This is probably the hardest review I’ve had to write to date. Generally, I visit a brewery and I know immediately what I’m feeling. It’s been 24 hours now and I still have no opinion one way or the other. If you read about their beginnings on their website (www.DuVig.com) you’ll see that they pride themselves on basic session beers- low alcohol content and predictable. I’ll walk you through the visit and the taproom before we get back to the beer.

As is common, it’s a brewery setup in a business park. I’d categorize the venue as small. I’ve been here twice and the huge parking lot has been empty both times that I’ve gone. It’s pretty easy to find once you get in the lot. As you walk in the entrance, you’re in the taproom. There are six tables, three of them being two-seaters. The bar had two chairs but allowed room for roughly four. A large chalkboard menu hung on the wall opposite the bar, while the wall behind the bar consisted of their mug club mugs and a small white board menu.

A flight of five tasters cost me $12. If there is one thing that definitely stood out at this brewery it was the size of their tasters. They just felt a lot more impressive than elsewhere. It was a good price for the flight and gave you the opportunity to try all of their beer options.

The beer itself is why I am having a difficult time with this review. Though not spectacular, it also wasn’t bad. It was just decent beer, which, I suppose, if that’s what they’re going for, “a beer true to style that won’t leave you guessing,” then these guys nailed it.

Of all the breweries I’ve visited, this one had the most mug club perks but not without the added cost to make up for it. Still, if you do the math out, and you’re local, it’s absolutely worth it. With an annual fee of $132 you get quite a lot of bang for your buck including: one free drink a week in your own numbered 20 oz mug, one free drink on your birthday, 20% off of DuVig merch, mug fills for the price of a pint, and $2 off growler fills. Spots are still available!

The staff was friendly and they offered merch and cans of their brews for sale. They also sold pretzels ($2.50/each) from Cohen’s, and there were some board games on a shelf in the taproom for your entertainment. I have nothing negative to say about DuVig. If you wanted to stop in somewhere for a quick, decent beer and aren’t on a hipster IPA- seeking mission, then I definitely recommend you swing by the brewery. However, if you’re looking to experiment with different beer styles or prefer a social setting more
exciting than a few patrons conversing, this might not be the place for you. It’s local and good for a pint after work; and for these reasons I would return.
